Life stage

Perimenopause

Cycles and symptoms can shift for years before periods stop. This stage is for irregular bleeding, sleep, mood, and a record of what you want to raise at a visit.

Educational only — not a diagnosis, and not a reason to stop or start medication on your own.

What to know

  • Cycles can get shorter, longer, or heavier before they stop
  • Sleep and mood changes are common and worth tracking
  • Contraception can still matter until a clinician confirms periods have ended

When to talk to a clinician

Ask for a visit if bleeding is much heavier than usual, happens after sex, or returns after months without a period. Seek urgent care for chest pain, a sudden severe headache, or bleeding that leaves you dizzy.
